What is Truck Convoy?
The Truck Convoy is an annual event which unites law enforcement and truckers to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes and change attitudes toward people with intellectual disabilities. More than 100 trucks travel 28 miles up and down I-485 before returning to the zMax Dragway for a celebratory lunch.
Participants are encouraged to raise as much as possible, but a minimum donation of $100 is required to participate in the Truck Convoy.
You could also have the honor of being the lead or last truck in the Convoy! Here’s how: Each year, during the Opening Ceremony, participants have the chance to participate in the Lead and Last Truck auction. Whoever bids the highest for either category will receive the honor of being the lead or last truck of the Convoy, signified by a large banner attached to your vehicle. The Lead Truck winner will also receive a championship belt!
