For most of us, our charitable giving helps us answer significant questions such as “Who am I?” and “What are my values?” Our giving might be something learned from our parents, based in faith, or driven by a life-changing event. As a result, leaving a legacy is much more than a financial aspiration—it represents a chance to pass along our values.
Visit our gift planning website that outlines the most common ways you can show your support of Special Olympics through legacy giving, including the Champion’s Society.
Your legacy gift will ensure that our work empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition continues long into the future.

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF), also known as a charitable giving account, is a charitable giving opportunity that allows donors to make a contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit and then recommend grants from the fund over time to support their favorite causes. Learn more about supporting Special Olympics using a DAF at this link.

Special Olympics North Carolina is able to provide first class sports training and athletic competition to people with intellectual disabilities thanks to the generous donations from corporate groups and individuals across the state.
In addition to monetary support, Special Olympics North Carolina is always in need of office and athletic equipment donations. For local programs, equipment such as chairs, tables, file cabinet and computers can can be a very large expense. Purchasing athletic equipment such as soccer goals, basketballs, sport apparel and bats and balls can also be difficult. Individuals, groups and businesses are encouraged to donate any new or used office or athletic equipment. Special Olympics North Carolina does not accept used trophies, plaques or exercise equipment.
Thanks to the support of donors, athletes are never a charged a fee to participate. For more information on donating equipment to Special Olympics North Carolina or to explore other volunteer opportunities, please contact Keith Fishburne at 800-843-6276 ext. 102.
