So much is new this year, it is hard to keep track! Be sure to check out more details about each of these items in the sections below.
- These Games were last held in fall of 2019, so, it feels like new!
- New dates! All competition will be held on Friday and/or Saturday!
- New format for Opening Ceremony! On Thursday, November 10 we will broadcast Opening Ceremony via Opening Ceremony! See more information in the Special Events section.
- New location for roller skating. It is still called Kate’s Skating, but it is in Gastonia, and is located at 1151 Skating Rink Drive. And, just to make it more interesting, there are two Kate’s Skating locations in Gastonia! Be sure to use the correct address when going to the venue.
- Softball will make it debut this year! Softball team and skills will take place at Hornet’s Nest Park, the same location for tennis. Please note that softball skills competition will take place on Saturday.
- New location for tennis. While tennis and softball are in the same park facility, they are just slightly too far to walk in between. We will be providing a golf cart shuttle between the two areas. Delegations may use the same transportation for coaches and athletes attending either sport.
- Dance has a new location. Please see below for details. As always, this event is the only one not open to the public.
- Start times for all competition will occur at 9 a.m. or later, so please check your schedule. This is so everyone can get a nutritious breakfast at your hotel!
We love new things, but we also like consistency. Here are a few things that did not change:
- Bocce, cycling, golf, and soccer will be held at the same venues as 2019. Please see their sections below for details.
- All coach’s meetings will be held via Zoom on Thursday, November 3. Here is a list of times and registration links.
There are a few other reminders:
- Please review the hotel check-in process very carefully under that section. We know many of you are new, and for the rest of you it has been a good amount of time since we have done this! If you have any questions, please let us know.
- Free health screenings continue to be an important part of Friday night’s dance. Be sure to take advantage of these great free services!
We are looking forward to a great Fall Tournament!
We are working to have announcers at most of the venues for Fall Tournament and we want them to be able to highlight the many athletes who will be with us for the weekend. We would love to provide them with some fun facts to share. Tell us a fun fact about any of the wonderful athletes! Thanks for helping provide that fun!

Lost and Found
Please report any lost/found athletes/items to the closest information services table/volunteer check-in table. Also, if you lose a nametag, please go to information services or the results coordinator.
Photography/Videography
Photos will be made available in the photo gallery after the event.
In the event that athletes and/or coaches from your local program are featured by a TV station covering the event and you wish to order a copy of the news clip, you can do so by calling Video Taping Services at 704-332-2158. Most TV stations in the state will refer you to this company if you call their station directly requesting a copy of a news clip they aired. To order a clip from VTS, you will need to know the following information: Date the story aired, name of station airing the story, city where the station is located.
Note that there is a charge to obtain a copy of news clips. SONC does not secure copies of television news stories due to the associated cost.
Credentials
Athletes as well as Coaches and HoD’s are expected to wear their nametags or credentials at all times other than during competition. If you lose a nametag or credential, please go to the information services table for a replacement.
Security
Access control volunteers will be present where it is necessary to control the flow of pedestrian traffic. Please feel free to seek their assistance as needed.
Transportation/Parking
Refer to directional signs or volunteers for specific instructions on parking at the various venues.
If you have transportation difficulties during the event, call one of the key contacts listed in the head of delegation information.
First Aid
Medical personnel will be on-site at the venues. Please note:
- Most of these individuals are certified (and willing) to give insulin shots BUT they cannot do so without an up-to-date doctor’s note listing the exact dosage to be administered as this is a liability issue.
- Should an athlete need medical attention, the coach or chaperone will be the person to complete the Incident Report (blanks will be at medical area). They should complete the entire document, have it witnessed, sign it themselves and then place the completed document in the envelope on the table in the medical area.
- All medical personnel are present to act as first responders so they are dealing with medical issues that arise while at the event; not long-term chronic issues.
- While these individuals may be comfortable assisting with medications, they cannot do so unless medications are in original prescription bottles and the dosage information is clearly provided.
Dietary Needs
We can typically accommodate requests for gluten free and vegetarian meals.
Please note that due to the scope of this event and our rebuild after not having Fall Tournament for three years, we will not have vegetarian or gluten-free meals.
We ask that delegations make arrangements to serve these needs.
We look forward to getting back to this level of service for future events and thank everyone for working with us in the meantime!
Thursday Night Dinner
Delegations will be on their own for meals as they travel into Charlotte on Thursday.
Concessions at venues
Arrangements for concessions are still being made for several venues. More information to come!
Friday and Saturday breakfast
Breakfast will be available at all hotels.
The service time may vary by hotel but competition start times have been moved a bit later to ensure that everyone has time to eat a good breakfast before the day starts!
Lunch Friday and Saturday
Lunch will be available at all competition venues for all members of the delegation (coaches, chaperones, athletes, etc.).
Detailed menus will be shared during the coach’s meetings.
Even if an athlete only has competition on one day, lunch will be available for that athlete both Friday and Saturday.
Friday Night Dinner
This meal is on your own. We have a limited number of restaurants offering reservation spaces/discounts and we are reaching out individually to programs that match that group size. Please proceed with arrangements if you have not gotten separate notice from SONC by Monday, October 31.
Here are some things for you to consider:
- Many restaurants continue to be short-staffed so you may want to call ahead to really gauge their ability to host your group prior to going to that location.
- Concord Mills Outlet Mall is very close to many of the hotels we are using as well as the dance. They have a very large food court with a number of restaurants.
- If you have a large group, split up by sport and let your coaches manage feeding their teams.
- If you are considering a large pizza order, call a few days in advance to ensure they can handle your order.
- Visit charlottesgotalot.com for a comprehensive list of area restaurants/options.
Souvenirs will be sold:
- Friday at all competition venues
- Friday evening at the dance
- Saturday at bocce and soccer only
Be sure to check our our limited-edition Fall Tournament t-shirt! We think it’s really pun-ny!
Housing
- Don’t forget that you will receive all credentials when you check into the hotel after 3 p.m. on Thursday. The HOD should plan on going to the hotel that afternoon to get room keys and arrival packets ahead of the entire delegation. It will keep things much simpler for everyone!
- Hotel assignments will be emailed to HODs.
- A rooming list will be emailed to you shortly after. Please review it and respond with any questions/adjustments.
- We are assuming that everyone is staying both Friday and Saturday nights unless you have informed us otherwise.
- All delegates should be respectful of others by remaining in their rooms after 11 p.m. each evening. Music and loud talking should not be heard outside the room/suite from which it originates.
- All delegates should respect all facility property and regulations. Theft or damage of property will not be tolerated.
Delegation Check-In Process at the Hotels
When: Thursday, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Who: Only the head of delegation and/or the head coach should come to the check-in area to prevent congestion.
Please direct the rest of the delegation to wait in the vehicle or away from the check-in area.
How:
-
- Pick up arrival envelope containing welcome information and all credentials for the delegation.
- You will receive a call Thursday afternoon to verify any scratches (last minute no-shows) for your delegation. You can also report all scratches to the hotel host volunteer.
- Confirm that you have all credentials for each member of your delegation. If you are missing a credential, let your hotel host know and SONC will work on getting you a replacement.
- Turn in the unused athlete and coach credentials from scratches to the hotel host.
- Receive room keys and the rooming list from the hotel host. Ensure that you have the number of rooms designated on the rooming list. Hotel room keys bundled together along with the rooming list as you had submitted. The HOD must determine who goes into each of those specific rooms rather than the hotel pre-assigning. There is a tendency for delegations to end up on 3-4 floors sometimes when the hotel is assigning so we are going to shift that responsibility off of the front desk. HODs should be prepared to work with this; we do think it will make your lives easier in the long run!
- Give out room keys assigning rooms as you go; be sure to write those room numbers on the rooming list you were given so you can keep up with everyone in the delegation. You will be the only person who has these specific assignments.

This is to ensure the maximum number of games for each event. A visual description of what the bracket looks like for a six-, four-, and 3-person/team division can be found here. Divisions were created based on the divisioning score submitted with registration. Additionally, all efforts have been made to ensure delegations bringing multiple teams/athletes are not playing in a division with their fellow delegation members. Sometimes, this is unavoidable depending on the number of people coming from a delegation. Weather/venue modification: All games will be played to 30 minutes or 12 points.

Fall Tournament
Families Information
Charlottesgotalot is a great resource to find places to eat and to stay in the Queen City.
Please note that SONC will not be providing any meal options for families at this event. Concessions will be on sale at all venues. All events are free and open for families. The only venue which will require check-in is Saturday night’s dance and credentials will be available at the door.
There is a large number of hotels in the area and SONC is utilizing over a dozen of those hotels. SONC has not designated family hotels but rather families are encouraged to explore hotels along Highway 74/Independence Boulevard or in the University area near UNC Charlotte.

Fall Tournament Directions and Parking Information
Here you will find QR Codes to help you with directions! Addresses are provided for all venues, so you can easily put them into your GPS. Please note that we may have added some details to help you find appropriate entrances and parking, so be sure to review those.
A parking pass is provided to help identify all vehicles associated with the event. This does not allow anyone to park in restricted areas. Rather, it is for our volunteers to help identify those cars associated with Fall Tournament from the general public. Print out as many copies as needed for your transportation.
