In this volunteer position, Aldridge will assist in the implementation of Special Olympics activities within Pamlico County by leading a committee that will provide sports training, competition opportunities and health and wellness initiatives for children and adults who have intellectual disabilities. She will assist in recruiting, training and managing local volunteers and work to increase athlete participation as well as raise funds in support of the local program.
In addition to her full-time position as a production and overall equipment effectiveness coordinator with Nutrien, Aldridge founded her own nonprofit, Hope for Harrison, to raise awareness for neuromuscular disease on behalf of her son, who is a Special Olympics Pamlico County athlete. In this position, Aldridge plans to expand the program’s offerings to reach more potential athletes living in Pamlico County.
