Description: The Cool Schools Polar Plunge and Inclusion Rally on Feb. 24 invites individuals associated with school communities to rally and plunge in promoting inclusion in their academic environments. Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® and Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) join to rally and plunge for inclusion. Unified Champion Schools bring youth with and without intellectual disabilities together through sports and education to create school communities of acceptance and respect.
Teachers, students, principals and parents are eligible to participate and act as leaders for raising valuable funds and awareness for Special Olympics, giving one more athlete the chance to get involved in the game and reveal their inner champion. The Cool Schools Polar Plunge and Inclusion Rally will be hosted by the students of R.J. Reynolds High School from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
The Triad Chill Polar Plunge fundraiser on Feb. 25 will have folks in the Triad freezin’ for a reason! In taking the wintry leap into the chilly water at Wet’n Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro on Saturday, Feb. 25, participants of this regional Polar Plunge will support the mission of SONC.
FOX 8 anchor and SONC Board of Directors member Katie Nordeen will serve as the event emcee. Supporters of SONC will participate in the Triad Chill along with students, teachers and staff from schools in the Triad area. Local law enforcement agencies will also brave the icy waters to demonstrate their commitment to enhancing the impact of SONC in their community.
Friends and fans also are encouraged to come out and watch the Polar Plunge festivities. Walk-up registrations on the day of the event are welcome. Online registration is available now.
The 2023 Triad Chill Polar Plunge is being supported by event sponsors FOX 8, Wet’n Wild Emerald Pointe and the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics North Carolina.
