It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude that Special Olympics North Carolina announces the passing of one of our most treasured volunteers, Bob Bowler of Charlotte, who dedicated decades of unwavering service, love, and leadership to our athletes, families, and community.
For more than 40 years, Bob was a guiding light—an ever-present source of encouragement, joy, and compassion. Whether coaching, cheering from the sidelines, organizing events, raising funds, mentoring new volunteers, or simply offering a warm hug when it was needed most, Bob embodied the true spirit of inclusion and kindness that defines Special Olympics.
Beloved by all who had the privilege to know him, Bob leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years alone, but in the countless lives touched, the friendships forged, and the joy sparked in every athlete’s heart. His impact will continue to ripple through our community for generations.
