Name of Event: Special Olympics North Carolina Plane Pull®

Registration is now open for the 2022 Plane Pull fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022. A unique team building activity for groups, this event requires participants to come together as a team to pull an airplane 25 feet. Five-person teams will compete to see who can pull a 40,000-pound plane the fastest. Each five-person team must raise a minimum of $800 total by the event date.
Team captains are encouraged to contact Leslie Moyar at lmoyar@sonc.net to schedule their time block once their team reaches the $800 fundraising goal. In the case of event cancellation due to inclement weather or other reasons, no refund will be provided. Participants can be as young as 16 years old. Parent/guardian approval will be needed using the SONC Plane Pull waiver for anyone 16 and 17 years old.
The following prizes will be awarded the day of the event: Top Individual Fundraiser, Top Team Fundraiser, Best Event-Themed T-shirt, Best Spirit-Themed T-shirt and Top Team/Group Halloween Costume. Division winners will receive a division championship wrestling belt and team trophies.
Additional onsite event festivities include music, food trucks, kids’ activities, games, a T-shirt design contest and a raffle.
One of SONC’s signature fundraising special events, the Plane Pull involves up to 400 participants who raise over $100,000 annually for SONC. This event is made possible by presenting sponsor, Credit Suisse, and partners, Raleigh-Durham International Airport, American Airlines, Envoy Air Inc., United Parcel Service of America, Inc. (UPS), Sheetz and Dunkin’.
The Plane Pull is one of the many fundraising initiatives championed by the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics, the largest year-round public awareness and grass-roots fundraising campaign for Special Olympics. Fundraising events, including the Plane Pull, raise more than $1.3 million annually for SONC.
