“I’ve always operated under the mantra- ‘I’ll do anything to make a TV show more interesting’!” Nick Kosir of MyFoxCarolinas morning show in Charlotte is a personality willing to go “out of the box”. On Sept. 26, he will go Over the Edge for Special Olympics NC when he rappels 23 stories down the Fifth Third Center.
“I definitely have a little of that thrill seeker mentality,” said Kosir. “I figure you only get one chance at life so if you get the opportunity to do something even if it’s scary, you might as well go for it.”
Kosir is known worldwide via You Tube as the “Rapping Meteorologist”. He first rapped a weathercast in 2009 while working in Texas to spice up the hot monotonous Southeast Texas weather pattern. Since then he’s rapped a forecast while tandem base jumping and he’s also done tandem skydiving on-air too.
MyFoxCarolinas is partnering with Special Olympics NC to help promote this unique and exciting fundraiser to benefit the nearly 40,000 Special Olympics athletes in the state.
“I didn’t realize how high the Fifth Third Center was until I drove by it and looked up,” said Kosir. “I know this will get my blood pumping. I think I’m most nervous about that first step over. I’d say I’m terrified but excited at the same time. I can’t wait!”
Kosir also is proud to do this for Special Olympics athletes.
“Special Olympics resonates with everyone. It’s so inspirational to see the athletes competing and pushing themselves to accomplish so much,” said Kosir. “I love that Special Olympics allows them to enjoy themselves and celebrate their abilities!”
The general public can register for the privilege to take this “walk on the wild side” on Saturday Sept. 27 at www.overtheedgenc.com.
