Raleigh thrill-seekers rappel 30 stories for Special Olympics North Carolina Oct. 1

September 28, 2022 | Categories: Fundraisers, News Releases

Name of Event: Over The Edge for Special Olympics North Carolina

Date/Time: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022; 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Location: 150 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, NC

Description: More than 100 thrill-seekers will get the unique opportunity to rappel a 30-story skyscraper in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, Oct. 1 while supporting Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC). Proceeds from the Over The Edge fundraising event will benefit Special Olympics activity in North Carolina. This year’s event in Raleigh will raise more than $100,000, which will contribute to the mission of SONC in cultivating sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 to rappel. Participant registration is now closed; however, donations can be made to the event, an individual or team online.

Friends, fans and media representatives are encouraged to attend. The public is also encouraged to participate by supporting any registered individual or corporate team fundraiser. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. Rappels are scheduled every 15 minutes. The event will take place, even if it is raining, so participants and spectators are encouraged to wear their raincoats, in case there is a need.

The Over The Edge technical staff will make all weather-delay decisions on Oct. 1, so rain delays may impact the schedule.

For media inquiries, contact SONC Director of Communications Madeline Safrit at msafrit@sonc.net or (919)-719-7662 ext. 110.
