Wilkes County

Welcome to Special Olympics Wilkes County!

Our goal is to provide quality training, competition and community involvement opportunities for our athletes.  The caring support of our community is marvelous and constantly fosters success for the 384 athletes who are able to take advantage of the training and competition opportunities offered through Special Olympics Wilkes County. Wilkes County also has more than 70 Young Athletes (2 – 7 years old) who take part in the local Spring Games each year.

Fall Sports Training



Partner Up, Power Up – fall 2020
This ten-week training program is a Unified program so individuals with and without intellectual disabilities can train together. It can be fully done from home with materials provided and online resources available for those who can access them. Deadline to register is August 18. See more!

Global Messengers

Global Messengers are Special Olympics athletes who have been trained in public speaking to serve as ambassadors for the organization.  They can recruit potential athletes, volunteers and sponsors through public presentations. To schedule a Global Messenger appearance, please contact the local coordinator.
