About the 2023 Plunge season
Find an in-person Polar Plunge near you by visiting www.polarplungenc.com! Not sure about Plunging in-person? We’re bringing the virtual Polar Plunge back in 2023 with Polar Plunge NC! You can Plunge from the comfort of your own home, however you’d like, while raising money for the nearly 40,000 athletes of Special Olympics North Carolina.

Find your freeze this Polar Plunge season! Once you do your virtual Plunge, submit it in one of two ways.
You can either:
- Post your virtual Polar Plunge on social media using the hashtag #PolarPlungeNC; or
- Send your video via email to plunge@sonc.net
At-home participants can take their Plunge anytime between now and April 1! Submit your Plunge either by posting to social media with the hashtag #PolarPlungeNC or send it to plunge@sonc.net.

Donations and fundraising
Special Olympics North Carolina or “SONC.” Include in the memo area of the check the Plunger’s name. Mail checks to 2200 Gateway Centre Blvd, Ste. 201, Morrisville, NC 27560.
- Donors can do one of the following:
- Call SONC at 919-719-7662 and make a donation via the phone using a major credit card
- Write a check for Special Olympics North Carolina or SONC and mail it to:
- Special Olympics North Carolina
Attn: 2023 Polar Plunge
2200 Gateway Centre Blvd., Ste. 201
Morrisville, NC 27560 - Include in the memo area of the check the Plunger’s name that is to be credited.
- Allow at least 5 business days from the date that the check arrives at SONC for the donation amount to be reflected in a participant’s online fundraising total.
- Special Olympics North Carolina
Charitable contributions are non-refundable, and the minimum Plunge registration fee is considered a charitable contribution and is therefore also non-refundable.
Donations will not appear on a Plungers page until SONC staff have received them and have entered the donations online.
Special Olympics North Carolina is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
