Information for 2020
Special Olympics North Carolina is continuing with plans to hold Over the Edge on October 3 in Raleigh unless conditions related to COVID-19 prevent the fundraising event from being held. If the fundraiser has to be canceled, we will apply any donations made to the 2021 event. Instructions about how events will be held in terms of people maintaining safe distancing and other safety measures will be released prior to the event. Special Olympics North Carolina will follow State health officials guidance in dealing with COVID-19. State health officials highly encourage everyone to practice social distancing of at least 6 feet as well as frequent hand washing and to stay at home if they are not feeling well or have symptoms of COVID-19. Under an executive order, cloth face coverings are required for anyone in public when physical distancing of 6 feet is not possible.

Why is Over the Edge important to us?
You may be wondering what rappelling down a skyscraper has to do with Special Olympics and the answer is simple. If you are a person with intellectual disabilities, you encounter adversities daily. You must have courage to try something that doesn’t come easily to you. Our athletes bravely face challenges on the field, in the pool and on the court. They are the inspiration for this event. Take your support for Special Olympics North Carolina to new heights and face your fears!
