For many at Special Olympics Craven County, the new wheelchair accessible bocce courts are like winning gold at a tournament.
As a part of the Lowe’s Heroes volunteer program, Lowe’s of New Bern partnered with Special Olympics Craven County. They chose Special Olympics after speaking with several Lowe’s associates whose lives have been impacted by their local program.
With help from Old Castle, Crystal Products, and Baysden Trucking Company, the local Lowe’s dedicated themselves to completing this project for Craven County athletes.
During construction, Craven County athletes Ed Harrison and Chuck Butler visited the courts to offer support to the volunteers from Lowe’s.
“It’s very nice of Lowe’s to do this for us,” Butler said. “I like it, because it will be easier for my aunt to come out and watch me play now.”
The wheelchair accessible bocce courts are ready to be used for years to come!
Thank you to Lowe’s of New Bern!
