More than 1,200 athletes, 600 coaches, 500 family members, and 1,000 volunteers convened in Raleigh and Cary June 5-7 for the 2009 Special Olympics North Carolina Summer Games. Athletes from across the state competed in athletics, aquatics, gymnastics, powerlifting, softball or volleyball.
