Statewide Partner Program

Become an Official Special Olympics Sponsor!

One way Special Olympics North Carolina fulfills its mission is by building partnerships with civic and corporate supporters. These partnerships fully integrate the sponsor within the statewide Special Olympics movement.

SONC is proud to be associated with many civic and corporate leaders, each creating a unique partnership with the organization.

Special Olympics Sponsorship Opportunities:

  • Cause Marketing Partners - Cause Marketing relationship is for companies that want a limited association with Special Olympics through a cause marketing campaign tied to sales. Companies at this level are able to conduct a themed campaign within North Carolina for three months around an appropriate event.  Many companies use this type of program to liquidate their rights fee for higher partnership levels
  • Media Partners -This sponsorship level is available for media outlets supporting Special Olympics North Carolina through advertising and promotion such as commercials, promotional mentions, live broadcasts, live appearances as emcees and more.
  • Preferred Suppliers -This sponsorship package is designed for companies that want a year-round association with Special Olympics North Carolina to showcase their products or services. Companies sponsoring at this level are able to market their Special Olympics North Carolina sponsorship within the state, year-round, while benefiting from the collective purchasing power of Special Olympics North Carolina.

Goals of the Partnership Program:

  • To create a leadership platform in the Triangle and in the statewide corporate community
  • To provide opportunities for employees to volunteer, coach and interact with Special Olympics athletes at the state and local program level

Sample Benefits:

  • Employee involvement at state-level competitions
  • Press release issued to statewide media announcing partnership
  • Company featured in SONC newsletter with circulation of 60,000
  • Premier sponsor at major fundraising event
  • Company-specific signage opportunities at all competitions

Partner Activities:

In addition to the financial and/or in-kind investments, these partners support Special Olympics many ways. Special Olympics sponsors often get involved in the following activities to further enhance their involvement:

  • Recruit volunteer teams for the SONC state-level Games
  • Establish on-line pen pals with Special Olympics athletes
  • Plan and implement cause-related marketing programs
