Greetings Fellow NC Law Enforcement Torch Run Officers,
It’s summer and the weather is heating up….and so is the second half or our fund raising year! Headed into the final half of the year, we have raised over $550,000 of the $1.3 million 2017 goal! We hope everyone is still organizing events and promoting the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in your community!
The SONC Summer Games held in early June in the Raleigh area was very successful! The Final Leg Run received terrific support from law enforcement including the Circle of Honor during the Opening Ceremonies. We also thank those who stayed on Saturday to present medals to the athletes during Summer Games awards ceremonies.
In September, we will be taking a delegation from our state to Nashville, TN, for the annual International Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Conference. Attendees include NC LETR leadership and representative of agencies that have raised at least $20,000 during the 2016 NC LETR campaign. We will join nearly 1,000 law enforcement officers from around the world at this conference for sessions on how to make our Torch Run work more successful!
Several fund raising events are taking place in September and October and we ask that you help support these events. Over the Edge will be September 30 in Raleigh and the annual Truck Convoy will be October 21 in Charlotte. The Red Robin Tip-A-Cop day will also be on October 21 at participating restaurants throughout North Carolina. Please call the SONC Torch Run staff to learn how you can help us use these three opportunities to raise funds for Special Olympics North Carolina.
In closing, please know how proud we are of your work to support Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run in North Carolina. We have one of the best Special Olympics programs in the world and our Torch Run efforts help a great deal towards this success!
With best regards,
Claudia Morgan Keith Jones
