Raleigh, N.C.—Linda Tucker of Sparta, NC has been named the local program co-coordinator for Special Olympics Alleghany County effective immediately, according to SONC President/CEO Keith L. Fishburne.
In this volunteer position, Tucker, along with the current coordinator Kathy Mulder, will oversee the implementation of Special Olympics activities within Alleghany County by leading a committee that will provide sports training and competition opportunities and health and wellness initiatives for children and adults who have intellectual disabilities. She will recruit, train and manage local volunteers and work to increase athlete participation.
Tucker has been a homemaker for 25 years. She is also is the mother of a SONC athlete and became a volunteer 4 years ago. Together she and Mulder have great ideas for how to expand the program within their community.
