Special Olympics World Games 2015 took place in Los Angeles this summer and two individuals from Cabarrus County got to be a part of it.
Starr Kluttz competed in aquatics at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on USC’s campus against individuals from all over the world. She practiced hard and competed well. She received a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, a participation ribbon in the 50m backstroke, and a 4th place ribbon in the 4×100 relay. She represented the United States, North Carolina, and our county so well! Not only did she have a great time competing but she also made friends from all over the world.
Paige Soderman attended the World Games as the official Special Olympics NC athlete volunteer. Each state had the opportunity to send an athlete to volunteer and Paige was chosen. She did a great job as she greeted athletes, gave out thousands of high fives, and answered questions at UCLA’s campus.
Special Olympics North Carolina is making changes to the Sports Calendar this year. In May, we hosted an information session and sign-ups for the 2015-2016 sports season.
