Buttons of Hope, makers of customized photo buttons, has partnered with Special Olympics North Carolina and will be onsite in “Olympic Town” on Saturday, March 8 in Winston Salem to take photos of athletes and make buttons of your athlete. Cost per button is $5 and 20% of the price will be donated to SONC.
“I think the button is a great idea, and I know I would buy a button for each sport my son participates in,” said Lynn Butler, mother of Zach, an accomplished Special Olympics athlete. “I know I would want one each season and each sport he's participating in each year, this way you can see your child growing up.”
Zach Butler has been in Special Olympics since he was eight-years-old and competes in a wide array of sports -speed skating, basketball, soccer and softball. Zach’s mom, like other parents, takes pictures during his competitions, but she says the photo button is something parents can wear on their shirt to proudly show off their support of their son or daughter.
“I am a collector of anything that my son does,” Butler said. “We are so proud of everything he does. He puts his heart into all his sports and has many great friends, not just local, but has met many friends through out the states. I wish this button had been around when Zach first started Special Olympics.”
"It's cool," said Zach. "I'll be able to spot my cheering section pretty easy if everyone in my family gets one."
The button is also a great conversation starter, especially for new parents just getting involved in Special Olympics. It’s not long before you’re moving from casual conversation to life-long friendships. Lynn Butler is excited to see Buttons of Hope at “Olympic Town” and believes other parents will be too.
