Global Messengers

Through the Global Messenger Program, athletes are trained to be spokespersons for Special Olympics.  Global Messengers are ambassadors for the organization and can recruit potential athletes, volunteers and sponsors through public presentations.

The 2017 Global Messenger training will be held August 18-19 in Morrisville, NC.  The application process is now closed.  Athletes and speech coaches will receive confirmation of their attendance.

To schedule a Global Messenger appearance, please contact Rachel McQuiston or click on the link for the appropriate local program and contact the local program coordinator directly.

Over the Edge is a fundraising event for Special Olympics North Carolina where individuals raise $1,000 each to rappel 30 stories down the Wells Fargo Capital Center in downtown Raleigh on September 29 & 30. Want to be part of the action without going Over the Edge?  Sign up to volunteer today.

Join us at the 2017 SONC Fall Tournament Nov. 3-5 in Charlotte! Click here for details.

Special Olympics North Carolina needs help throughout the year in our office and warehouse.  We handle data entry for newly registered athletes and volunteers.  We maintain a large warehouse with almost everything that you need for a sports event and use various items throughout the year so we need volunteers to keep it all in order.  Please signup online or email volunteers@sonc.net with questions.  We welcome groups of 4 or 5 to join us as well.

Each local program has a local committee that assists the Local Program Coordinator in all of their program needs. Click here to see what opportunities are available or visit your local program's page.

For information on coaching, volunteering at events, or getting involved with your local program, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form! Volunteers will be added to our email database for information on future volunteer opportunities.
