Partnership with UNC-Greensboro

Special Olympics North Carolina is proud to partner with the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at UNC-Greensboro for an advanced Global Messenger training. During this partnership, previously trained Global Messengers work with UNC-G graduate students to improve their public speaking skills and confidence.  Read more about the program here.

Volunteer Opportunities

The 2018 SONC Equestrian Tournament needs you! Volunteers are needed to assist with competition, venue set-up and awards throughout the weekend of Sept. 28-30.  All volunteers who are serving a full-day shift will be given lunch.

Join us at our largest fundraiser of the year. We need volunteers to work in a variety of capacities while up to 100 individuals rappel down the Wells Fargo building in downtown Raleigh. Please select a shift where you can work the entire time. We will provide a T-Shirt and for those working 6 hours or more, we will also provide a meal.

Register online now!

Fall Tournament will be in the Charlotte area November 9-11.  We will have 6 sports and 2 special events with venues in Charlotte, Matthews and Indian Trail.

If you are interested in taking on a volunteer management role, please email volunteers@sonc.net. If you have a group of 20 or more please complete this form detailing some of your interests.

General Registration will open in mid-September.  If you want to be sure to get an email when the registration is open please complete this form.

Special Olympics North Carolina needs help throughout the year in our office and warehouse.  We handle data entry for newly registered athletes and volunteers.  We maintain a large warehouse with almost everything that you need for a sports event and use various items throughout the year so we need volunteers to keep it all in order.  Please signup online or email volunteers@sonc.net with questions.  We welcome groups of 4 or 5 to join us as well.
